Trust. That’s my word of the year. As Jill Seale said I’m “putting in the work”. 

I spent the long weekend lingering at home thinking about 2021 and what I want. 

At the stroke of midnight New Years Eve I stepped outside with my neighbors and we had champagne and sparklers.  

We had laughter but it was followed by a moment of fear. So much of the future is unclear. 

This weekend talking to Lori she said I hear the word you feel. It’s “uncertain”. But how then do we spin that into the positive? 

What do I feel?

Fear. 

Fear of the unknown.

Fear that things won’t turn out the way I want them to. 

Fear that I don’t have my shit together enough to achieve the things I want to achieve. 

I remember years ago I read if you’re not afraid- you’re not dreaming big enough. 

But what if... this is the #selftalk I do... #myprocess... what if I wasn’t afraid but curious? What if I wasn’t afraid but eager? What if I wasn’t afraid but waiting in calm excitement- eager anticipation- for the future to unfold? If I trust the future is good then I might as well look forward to it. 

My sister Missy always says live by love not by fear. 

As Lori said, What if I trusted that everything would be ok? Trust- yep that’s the word of the year.

I trust that the future has been written.

I trust that the future is good.

And if it’s good... then I don’t have to worry about the future.

The future will take care of itself. And if the future is fine then I might as well focus on the fun, focus on the ride. Focus on what I need to do today to get where I’m going.

Because life is really about the journey- not the destination - so the question becomes what brings me Joy because that’s where you’ll find me this year -living in Joy - hopefully with champagne and sparklers in hand.
