You really haven’t been loved until you’ve been loved by a cat. This cat loves me passionately. I’m packing for Cannes. It’s an important week. And Fortuny is distraught. Somehow he knows he’s not coming with. For the last two nights I’ve woken to him sleeping on my chest, he, and she sometimes too, only do that the night or two before I leave. My bedroom is a tornado of clothes. Trying on outfits. Matching jewelry. Purses. Shoes. A friend joked that I’m so glamorous on Instagram but just normal day to day in Venice. “ Next time I’ll post a makeupless selfie casa mia.” I promise. I need to buy warmer weather shoes but unless a miracle in time occurs before I go I will arrive FRANCE with last summers - or the summer befores shoes. I bought 2 new dresses but they haven’t arrived in time. This week I have been working like a dog. That’s a funny expression - I wonder where it comes from. All my cats do all day is sleep. At night they stand guard as I sleep wondering if I’ll ever wake again as surely it’s not normal to sleep more than an hour at a time. They wake me just to make sure I am breathing. Laura has an app that monitors her sleep. It records everything that happens in the night. In the morning she hears conversations with her cat. “I’m sorry Pesto. I didn’t know you were there.” She apologizes. As I sleep Fortuny purrs excessively loudly. They say the hertz a cat purrs at is healing. I’m on the precipice of something big. It’s been an important week. One day I worked 19 hours. Most other days 12. This is my life. For the most part, I have found balance but big things sometimes require big investments. In this case Time. We overestimate what we can achieve in a year but underestimate what can be achieved in a decade. Where will you be 10 years from today? #dreamsdocometrue
