50 or 40
Just as 50 is the new 40, 9pm is the new midnight. I go to bed early. And I have 2 sleeps. My natural rhythm is to sleep early & wake at 4. You would think IF I go to bed later - I would sleep in later, but it doesn’t work that way for me.
When I go to bed at 2 I still wake at 4. It’s the witching hour. The moment when the veil between the spiritual & physical realm is its thinnest. It’s also when I most clearly hear myself think. Years ago I learned to harness this energy. What most people call the #5amclub is my own personal #4amclub I work. I write. I meditate. I journal. I get more done between the hours of 4-6 than Noon & 6.
But I’m often sleepy at 6am when I supposed to be wake up! I use to force myself to stay awake and then… I said “Chuck Conformity” embracing my 2nd sleep. I found a rythm that worked for me.
I do 2 sleeps. This is called biphasic sleep. And historically - in the preindustrial era - it was the norm. So much of what we do is programmed. We are programmed for monophasic sleep. But before the Industrial Revolution biphasic was more common.
The Industrial Revolution set time keeping for society. Another revolution is coming - if not already here. And Time as we once experienced no longer has the same relevance. Today we have access interchangeably to both scientific & esoteric knowledge. My opinion is that even a conventional 40 hour work week is no longer relevant.
I call my Instagram page “my republic” because I am creating my own world, a world where I determine what works for me and what doesn’t.
Years ago a business consultant told me you teach people how to do what you do and you’re successful - but if you can teach people how to think like you think you’ll be rich.
The problem was I wasn’t sure how I thought.
It’s hard to know if how you think is any different from anyone else. So I relentlessly deep dived into understanding myself. What I think and what I feel.
Each of us should have that autonomous control over our own lives.
I’m not here to tell you what to do but to tell you to find what works for you.
And I show you unfiltered how I do that myself. That’s my purpose. To pursue my most authentic self.
