In October 2018, The Antiques Diva Collection by Aidan Gray launches at High Point Market. My furniture collection pays homage to the past while looking to the future. With over 15 designs in multiple color combinations in the initial debut, it moves beyond antique reproductions, mixing media to create unique looks for furniture, using concepts and materials not available in the 18th century – such as authentic hand-carved woods combined with Lucite and faux leather.

My favorite piece in the collection is our Lucite demilune. This piece – as were several in the collection – was inspired by the ruins of Pompeii. During Louis 16th’s time frame the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum were discovered – and classical became all the rage – with Louis 16th’s furniture team creating the “new classical” or neoclassical style. Does that make us the “new” neoclassical? For me, design shines when it’s all about juxtaposition. Just like in love, and in science, opposites attract.
