Blown Away
Blown away. When Markus & Alexa @almaranto_piemonte throw a party… they really throw a party. I go to a lot of events but never have I seen such perfection in the execution of an event as I have at their birthday week in Piedmont. This was night 2 of the 2-day birthday turning 101… 50 for M and 51 for A.
The theme was Great Gatsby. 100 friends flew into Italy from around the world to party like it was 1920. Living in Venice I was lucky enough to just be a train ride away. Tucked away in the Lange, the hotel sits on a hill in Calamandrana overlooking field after field of vines. Nestled among lush vineyards and hazelnut groves my friends’ hotel is centrally located in the Monferrato region between the historic towns of Nizza Monferrato - home to the renowned Nizza DOCG wines - and enchanting Canelli with its UNESC-listed wine cathedrals and tunnels, home to the famous Alta Langa sparkling wine. I had visited my friends’ hotel pre-pandemic but hadn’t been since the renovation. It is rare that I am blown away by an experience but the entire weekend left me… speechless. There goes my poker face. Happy happy birthday my dear friends. Xoxo.
