Join Me in Florence

I was sitting at dinner casa mia with friends when one said “I have to drive to Florence tomorrow for work - do you want to come?” My first response. “Yes! That sounds fun.” My 2nd…”I shouldn’t. I just got home from actual vacation.” My 3rd… “what I really need is a some solid hours planning my 2020 marketing plan. Writing. Editing. Organizing my notes.” This can be done anywhere. Have laptop will travel. #workfromanywhere So I reminded myself of my motto for the year #followthefun

This is my #yearofyesWhen I started my company @theantiquesdiva it started with one yes. One yes- that lead to another- and another. Before long a #businesswasborn - Magic happens when you say yes. Opportunities present themself. I am open and ready to receive all the good the universe has for me. As my friend dropped me near my hotel so they could go to dinner with colleagues I walked with my overnight bag through the dark pedestrian streets of Florence to my hotel near Santa Croce. The roads are silent. Life in the times of Coronavirus. The holiday’s are over. Florence is empty. The visitors have gone home. I pass the empty square in front of Santa Croce. And stop and say a prayer. Prayers come more easily to my lips these days. Prayers of gratitude not wanting. Not longing. Just being. Santa Croce. The name means Holy Cross. There is a leather school behind the tourist entrance to the basilica. Tomorrow I will pop inside. The pantheon of Italy. The greats are buried here. Michelango. Galileo. I soak in their presence. My friend laughs at my eccentricities. Astrology. Spirits. Belief in something bigger than myself. God. And yet we agree on one thing - we are all energy.

Everything around us - everything we do and are - is energy. I check into my hotel - a simple hotel - 56E a night- and yet its 4 star. It’s off season and I book the spa. 15 E. One hour alone. The advantage of Covid. Single file in the Jacuzzi. Sauna. Steam. My trainer will be glad. They even have the elliptical machine I do at the gym. American Breakfast. Scrambled eggs and a Macchiato. You can bring the Oklahoma girl to Florence but a bit of the #OklahomaGirlalways remains.
