The Snow Moon

The moon. Shining between 2 buildings. At 4am she moves across the night sky shining on to the canal and wakes me, tapping on my bedroom window. What do you desire?  Your wish is my command. Full moons reveal our inner potential. The Full Moon is here. Do you feel it? I feel it’s energy like the light is shining onto a part of myself.  Intuition is heightened.

The week before a full moon I accomplish so much, high energy buzzing through my office, a time of action, for review, looking back over the first half of the month and looking forward to the next New Moon.  What full moon rituals do you have in play? I’m frenetic? I want to close things out.  To be prepared for something new.

The New Moon isn’t visible in the sky. It’s a time to go inward, a time to set intentions for the month ahead. It’s a time to step away from a Yang way of living, the pushing, striving and achieving of modern life, to relax and focus inwards, connecting with your dreams and desires.

But the full moon is a time of action. If you trust the moon you trust also your intuition. It’s time of allowing- allowing all that is meant for you to come into your life. It’s the time to open the doors - and close them.

In English we talk of the man in the moon. In old English the sun was feminine and the moon masculine but in Latin languages the moon is a woman. La Luna they say in Italian and Spanish. La Lune in French. Always feminine.

In Greek mythology Selene is is the goddess of the moon. She would drive her chariot in the night sky while pulling the moon. She was known for her personification of life's constant changes.

This is what I have learned.

Nothing stays the same.

We are constantly evolving.

When I struggle with change I look to the moon.

The full moon in February is hungry- she’s called the snow moon - and she has cabin fever. The snow moon is a reminder that we are in a season of change. The snow will melt, the earth will warm.

Change is coming.
