Razor Clams
Growing up in Oklahoma, a landlocked state, I never learned to cook #mollusks. In my 20s living in Paris, I studied cooking. I learned to make seafood, but my ex-husband didn’t like the smell of fish, so I rarely cooked it at home. When I moved to Venice, I gained access to Rialto, the world’s best fish market. Now I experiment daily. Brain science says trying new things is key to #healthyliving. When you learn something new, neurons grow. Simply put, even learning to cook mussels can make you feel more empowered. It gives #courage #selfconfidence & helps #anxiety. Plus, mollusks are freaky easy to make at home.
This is my #Recipe for a Self-Care Night Casa Mia I put my hair in a bun & wash my face. Then I wash the mollusks. First, soak them in salt water. Scrub off the barnacles if you’re particular. I’m not. I just drag off any dangling bits & rinse again. I hate the texture of sand in my teeth even more than in my bed. Add oil to pan which has a good lid. Add shallots first. Then Garlic. Don’t let the garlic burn. Add mollusks of any kind. This recipe is universal. Mussels. Razor Clams. Etc. Maybe for 4 lbs of mollusks, use 2 cups white wine? I don’t measure. But for every glass in the pot, I pour 1 for myself. Add 🌿 Parsley. This herb is an unsung hero in the metaphysical realm protecting against low spirits. It’s a powerful natural diuretic, helping reduce bloating & blood pressure. Close the lid & let it steam. Maybe 5-7 minutes. Multitasking, I brew myself a pot of parsley tea to keep in my fridge. If you have a glass lid & can see inside the pot- wait to open the lid until the majority of the mollusks are open. When you open the pot, it should steam open your pores. Throw out any unopened shells. Then go apply a clay mask. I prefer clay because it cleans the pores & tightens them. Now, it’s time to decide if you pimp your mollusks? You can add cream or curry & coconut milk or a tomato puree. Name your poison. My favorite is simply as is: shallots, garlic, wine, parsley with a side of crusty bread. Queue up Netflix & light a candle. #DinnerForOne DM for Cookery Course info
